Once the snow stops, I'd like to start a project of documenting street art in Ottawa. Could those of you who live in Ottawa please keep your eyes open over the next few weeks for interesting examples of street art and post it as a reply to this message? I plan to take a couple of days (probably a few Saturdays) to tour these places and photograph them before the greenery arives in full force, most likely in late April or early May. I'll then post a link to the album in a seperate LJ post.

There's usually someone doing chalk drawings on William Street (just off of Rideau, near the Rideau Centre) in less liquid weather. Though he's a busker so I don't know if he'd appreciate photographs.

There's a park near Slater and Bronson that always has a huge pile of graffiti. Relatively good stuff, it's encouraged (keeps them from doing it elsewhere), but I don't look too carefully so I won't guarantee what it looks like these days. You could glance at it while driving by... Take Bronson to Slater while on your way downtown.

I'll avoid the chalk art and restrict myself to the more permanent and semi-permanent type.

I'll add Slater/Bronson to the list.

I believe the big wall at S&B was recently whitewashed in preparation for a new batch.

I recall there are a couple of places near Carleton U. which might have some:
  • The Bronson Ave. pedestrian underpass Northwest of the Rideau River

  • The O-train underpasses at Confederation and near parking lot 6

  • Additionally, the O-Train tunnel under Dow's Lake has (or at least had) some pieces, but that's a bit of a challenge to get to.

I'll keep my eyes open... I recall there are a few on buildings downtown, but I can't remember specifics.
