SPACE.com -- Review: As a Disaster Film, '2012' Succeeds

A review of the upcoming Disaster film (Yes, with a capital "D"; it's from the maker of "Independance Day" and "Day After Tomorrow") starring John Cusak. Bottom line appears to be that the film is entertaining, just don"t look too hard at the "science". That said, the "hero" is actually a government scientist (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) who is the film's moral compass and illustrates the issue of how certain you have to be to issue an alarm on such as massive scale.

Laurell K. Hamilton Movie - Suvudu - Science Fiction and Fantasy Books, Movies, and Games

The Independent Film Channel (IFC), together with Lionsgate and After Dark Films will be creating a made-for-tv movie based on Laura K. Hamilton's Anita Blake vampire-hunter series. The press release says they are looking for something to appeal to the "...men of ages 18-34 year who are looking for vampire content...." Given the erotic nature of her books, vampires aren't the only reason men in that age bracket are buying her books. The film is expected to air on IFC tv in the summer of 2010.

I've pre-ordered Reclaiming the Blade. It ships on March 30th, but those people who buy it now get a t-shirt in addition to the 2-DVD set.

For those who want to wait, after March 30th they will be able to download the movie from iTunes.

NFB makes films free online

Canada's National Film Board plans to eventually make all of its films free online. They will be making 10 new films available each month. Those outside of Canada will more than likely be unable to access them unless you perform some software gymnastics.
