Cool! Now that looks like a fun thesis. I've been meaning to get back to learning how to do rendering with Blender 3D since it seems a good fit for working at a place where I have access to high resolution 3D scanners.

Thanks for the link; it was a nice break from running simulations on errors inherent in certain types of laser scanners.
