Pseudo-science: Google Street View Captures Victorian Ghost Walking in Cardiff

This photo is believed by many to be a Victorian-era ghost, captured by Google Streetview. Personally, it looks like the result of a poor stitch between photos as a result of photomerge software not determining the correct shooter perspective. I see this all the time in Photoshop in situations were a photomerge is simply beyond the capabilities of the software. The give-away? Look at the distortion of the posts.

For amusement, I add the Google Streeview photo purported to be an alien and some kind of laser beam, from the "impeccable source" known as "Weekly World News" and written by someone calling themselves Erik Van Datiken. For those who miss the joke, Erik Von Daniken wrote dozens of books about how aliens were supposed to have influenced the evolution of the human race.

Apparently the Google street-view is coming to Ottawa (well, they said 11 top cities in Canada, so we're pretty likely). Someone suggested that once all the locations are known we will have all sorts of people trying to act up for the cameras. (Keep in mind that I don't know about the service, so apologies if I messed up any of the terms).

There have been quite a few stunts pulled for Google Maps (I'll look for some later. I seem to recall one involving making a giant happy face) and I'm sure similar things have been done for Google Street View. I was at seaside market in Seattle when they did some street-view data collection there but haven't found out whether I was in any of the shots.

I'll also post up a link later to a collection of odd images people have culled from Google street view.

I just checked Google Map Streetview for the market. It looks like the day I was there, but I appear to have been on the other side of the street at the corner where I saw them.
