Now for some local news:
RCMP searching Tory headquarters - The RCMP are assisting Elections Canada officials who are investigating allegations of spending irregularities during the last federal election. The irregularities involve the federal Conservative party transferring funds to 66 campaign offices after the federal party after reaching its $18.3 million (Can) federal advertising spending limit. The campaign offices transferred the money back to the federal party to purchase ad space for local candidates. Elections Canada contends that the resulting ads were too much like the federal ads so did not qualify for local ad spending.

Less smoking, more 'toking in Ontario - A recent study indicates that between 1997 and 2005 the fraction of the population that smokes tobacco has gone down, but the fraction that smokes marijuana has gone up.

Ottawa police testing Taser cams - City of Ottawa police officers are testing the use of a video/audio camera on tasers to record the circumstances in which they are used. The camera begins recording as soon as the safety is released, and keeps going until the gun is shut down.
