Grand Prismatic Spring in the Yellowstone National Park, situated over a supervolcano, has been rising faster than ever due to an influx of magma. The cone is 70 km across, covering most of the park, and last erupted 70,000 years ago. Officials don't expect it to erupt any time soon.

50 years ago last Saturday (November 3), Laika become the first dog in space.  It is believed that she died a few hours after going into orbit as a result of overheating during launch.
The closest "solar twin" to our sun has been found in constellation Draco. it is known by the designation HIP 56948 and and is 200 light years from us and 1 billion years older. Three other stars, Scorpio 18, HIP 100963 and HIP 98614 were also in the running, but were deemed to have too much lithium to match our own sun.
