I had promised [livejournal.com profile] wonderleafy that I'd post my backlog of sex tech articles. Here they are, in time for your weekend enjoyment.

This little bathroom buddy hides a vibrator for those times you share the commode with others who may not want to know what you do with your toys. Powered by AAA batteries, it's small an portable. And its a rubber ducky, so bath times should be SO much fun.

The Sinulator is a software package that allows you to give remote users control over your sex toys. Once you've inserted the device to your USB port (think of it as a precursor), you then connect to the Sinulator site(http://www.sinulate.com/), create an account, and invite complete strangers to send you good vibrations.

Where the Sinulator is designed to giver her pleasure, for him you have the Virtual Hole (crudely named, but accurate) by Segment, Inc. The device, shown on the left, reputedly simulates oral, vaginal, and masturbatory sex. The company also sells the Virtual Stick that uses pressure-sensors to transmit her actions to his pleasure; however, the Sinulator's own toy might provide a more mutually satisfying experience. Where this device does find application is in adding a tactile component to pornographic movies; recordings obtained from the Virtual Stick can be added as a track to a movie so that the viewer can virtually take part in the scene (see http://www.techhouse.org/~dmorris/publications/haptic_movies_paper.pdf for the details of how this is done).

Remote sex might be fun for some, but the lack of human contact can make the experience sterile. Enter the Hug Shirt that allows you to send simulated hugs over your cell phone. You can program your hug for specific durations, and it will transmit your hug pressure, skin temperature, and heart rate.

For many people (primarily women) talking is a big part of the sexual experience (something guys might want to remember). This device takes that idea one step farther by converting voice into vibrations. The bass component is used to drive the phallic part while the little stimulator is driven by the treble part of your voice. If you don't have a partner, then connect it to your stereo and spend an evening with your favourite singer or actor.

To end off, here are a couple of cute circuit art pieces. More can be found at http://www.googlethedamnthing.com/mirror/circuit_sex/

This stuff shows up ocassionally in the feeds. As I find it, I'll save them up for another specialty post.

There was a report about some Japanese research leading to a breakthrough in transmitted skin texture, but I seem to have lost the link somewhere. I'll keep my eyes open for it.
