Fuel price hikes driving people out of the burbs - The rapid increase in the cost of fuel is causing some people to consider moving into the cities where they can cut their commute time or opt for cheaper transportation. As a result, housing prices are dropping in the suburbs and rising in the inner city areas. Yep, this is just what I'm seeing now as I look for a house.

Obama takes on oil, much to Alberta's dismay - Obama pledges to reduce America's dependence on oil and reduce their environmental footprint. As a result, Alberta's not-so-environmentally-friendly oilsands may be among the first suppliers to find themselves out in the cold.

End of Scientific theory - Wired write Chris Anderson presents an, perhaps ill-conceived, argument that brute force computing means never having to develop a theory for anything ever again. Although computing correlations between phenomenon is a powerful technique, the writer seems to miss WHY we, as scientists, develop, and depend on, scientific theory. I may post a rant on this if I feel so inclined.

Change your personality by changing the language you speak - a recent study seems to indicate that when a multilingual person changes to a different language their personality shifts as well. They theorize that multicultural multilinguals "frame-shift", using language as a cue for activating culture-specific frames, changing their perceptions and behaviour to match. Link now fixed
