Mission accomplished: Team Canada wins 5th straight gold

In case it was missed in this morning's panic regarding LJ's layoffs, Canada's junior national team have beaten the best in the world for the fifth year in a row, although it was touch-and-go at some points, particularly against Russia and Sweden. This is the 15th gold medal won by a Canadian junior team, matched only by Russia.

I don't often watch hockey, but the World Junior games are an exception. All of the skill with none of the violence you see in NHL games. And they only take place for about a week each year in the middle of winter, when hockey is supposed to be played.

I know what you mean about the skill without the violence. That's why I enjoy watching the women's world hockey matches. Same thing.

I quite agree, particularly the Olympic-level women's hockey. That, to me, is how hockey should be played.
