It means that until I made the change, only those people (like you) who are on my friends list could comment on my posts. I have opened the commenting such that anyone with a valid LJ account can make a comment on my post.

It means his friends haven't been supplying him with enough silly comments and replies. He needs to solicit them from a wider number of people.
Time to flood him with foolishness folks!

P.S. I couldn't comment properly before, but I want one of those clear canoes...

To which she demonstrates that my friends ARE quite capable of an endless stream of silly comments.
To that I say *pthhtttt* (now my monitor is all wet...)
I can think of some uses for the canoe, particularly in some south-sea lagoon filled with colourful aquatic flora and fauna.
