Spell for the Modern Mage
Over dinner we were consider spells that would be used by the 20th century equivalent of the D&D mage, sorcerer, or cleric. Here are a few that we came up with, but feel free to suggest others.
- Really, how often do you need to summon a monster these days. "Summon Waiter" is far more useful
- Detect Evil is so medieval. Today's mage prefers "Detect Parking Spot"
- Speaking of detect spells, "Detect Speed Trap" is very much in vague right now, as well as its companion "Invisibility to Police Radar"
- For clerics, "Turn Lawyer" keeps them very much in demand
- Then there are the every-popular "Charm Clerk"
- For those who like movies and quiet dinners, "Silence Cellphone" comes in handy
- Control temperature is nice, but in today's climate-controlled house "Control TV Remote" is probably a better choice
- Speak with animals was nice in its day, but "Speak with Human Operator" could really make your day
- Repel insects has been replaced with "Repel Telemarketers" and "Repel Spam"
- Why use call lightning when "Call Taxi" is used far more often
