I am researcher in the field of 3D imaging, designing standards for laser range scanners. I recently completed my doctorate in Electrical Engineering and long, long ago got a degree in Mathematics, which lead to my being a Statistician in Food Science and Veterinary Epidemiology during most of the 1990s. In my off-time I do photography, photo-editing, and occasional bit of sword-fighting.

This journal is mostly for me to collect interesting articles in science and technology, and other assorted bits of geekery that catch my eye in magpie-fashion. In short, it's an aperiodic posting of interesting news articles from the world of science and technology, interspersed with photos graphically illustrating the new, the strange, and the fascinating from the world of nature, medicine, science, and technology.

Among the news articles I occasionally post photos, short stories, and bits about what is happening in my life, although my wife ([personal profile] ms_danson) tends to post much more about that sort of thing so I generally leave much of that to her.
